Activism has been on the rise lately. Movements are gaining traction. More and more people are showing up, raising their voices and demanding change. But what happens when you can’t raise your voice or be heard — at least not in a way the majority understands?

This is the reality for members of the deaf community at many protests and rallies that fill streets with movement and hearts with passion. Imagine standing in a crowd, feeling the energy of people fighting for the same cause, but being unable to follow the chants, speeches or calls to action because of a sensory and language barrier. The fight may be for justice, but if you can’t access the message, how can you truly be included?
